The ASSIST smoking prevention intervention for 12-13-year olds, based on research conducted over 20 years by Professors Rhona Campbell and Laurence Moore, has now been rolled out in parts of Paris and northern France with a target of delivering to 12 schools this academic year.

During the last academic year, the total ASSIST rollout saw a further 73 schools deliver ASSIST smoking across the UK and France, which means an additional 10,752 children have now benefitted, 1824 of those as peer supporters.

Since Evidence to Impact was set up in 2010, over 130,000 students have taken part in the programme with nearly 23,000 trained as peer supporters. Over 750 schools have taken part and approximately 400 staff have been trained.

We have recently trained teams from Northern Ireland and Bogota in Columbia who will be delivering ASSIST in their respective countries for the next 2 years as part of a research trial. We look forward to supporting them and being part of this important project.
